You all know how much I love creating outfits and styling looks on the blog, so when Figleaves challenged me to style their pieces into some Summer outfits I couldn’t wait to get stuck in! Having just booked a holiday in Portugal for September, holiday dressing in something that is always popping up in my mind, especially when it comes to picking out versatile pieces that can be worked into many looks. I love to hunt down a really lovely beach dress or kaftan than can be taken from the pool right into the evening depending on how it’s styled, so that’s the idea I wanted to keep in mind when putting outfits together.
LOOK ONE: BEACH
Being a huge fan of color and the current boho style trend, I wanted to put something together that was bold and bright, and something that would be great not only for the beach, but even for a festival. I went for a really lovely bright kaftan that has a gorgeous summery print. The mixture of colours makes it easy to style with other shades, so I went all out and clashed it with a green two piece bikini. Accessories mirrored the colours in the kaftan and were kept to a bare minimum – some super hot sunnies in a pretty pink, an aztec beach bag to keep the festival theme going, and some simple white sandals to accentuate that tan!
LOOK TWO: CASUAL
One of my favourite pieces to wear on holiday is a maxi dress. They are so easy to wear and can look really pretty. Simple jersey versions are perfect to throw on over a bikini, dress up with heels and jewellery in the evening, or wear like I’ve styled below for a cool casual look, perfect for browsing the city or topping up on some sight seeing. I love this dress so much. It’s really simple yet oozes elegance, and teamed with the cut off denim waistcoat it looks so on trend. I’ve paired the two with a stack of bold accessories in the form of chunky wedge sandals, a studded bag, straw trilby and vintage inspired tortoise shell shades.
LOOK THREE: EVENING
Finally I wanted to put together a look that was a little more daring and out there, and something that was really on trend and fashion forward, showing that swimwear could even work for night, I found a gorgeous black swimsuit with sheer panel detailing that could be worn as a body suit, and over this added a sheer chiffon skirt to flash a little flesh! Teamed with some killer heels and a pretty rose crown, this outfit is the perfect balance between pretty and tough. The final addition of an oversized stud clutch pulls everything together, making a look that would be brilliant for a night out on holiday.
Putting these outfits together has got me really excited about holiday shopping (I may have already bought a couple of things…) and given me some ideas for working my pieces into lots of different looks. I’m loving bright prints and retro high waisted bikinis for the Summer, with lots of sheer kaftans and pretty sandals. Roll on September!
