With it being prom season at the minute, I wanted to give my take on a look that would be perfect for an end of year or leavers ball, even though I’m about seven years too old now. For my prom I wore a floor length hot pink dress, and if I’m completely honest, I look back and absolutely hated it. At the time I thought it was gorgeous, but now when I see pictures I can see so many things wrong with it. The colour was completely wrong for my skin tone, the detailing looked too much against my colouring, my hair style was way too severe for my face shape and make up was pretty much non existent. I guess that’s all part of growing up and personal taste, but if I was to do it all again I would probably go for something like this red number from Chi Chi. It’s a lovely shape that suits my hourglass figure and the red shade sits nicely against my skin and hair. I love the delicate black beading as it gives a plain dress a little more interest, but is still quite subtle at the same time. You can’t see in the pictures below, but it’s actually got halter neck back, where it cuts down quite low and ties in a bow at the top of the neck, which is really pretty and again adds a little more interest.
Dress – Chi Chi*
Shoes – Nelly*
Clutch – Dorothy Perkins
Lips – Coco Rouge Cambon by Chanel
I’d keep accessories to a minimum with this dress, simply sticking to nude statement heels that help to elongate the legs, and a matching oversized clutch. Make up is nice and simple too with a light base, a touch of mascara and a bold red lip to pull everything together.
I’d love to see all your outfits if you’ve had your prom recently, so please do link me to your pictures below! It’s really nice to see what kind out looks are in fashion now compared to when I went to mine.
