Sorry for not posting this earlier in the month (nearly halfway through July now... woops) but with being away the first week of July I have only just got round to putting this post together! This is only my second monthly favourites post, and since last month's went down pretty well I've decided to stick at it - better late than never! It's been really difficult to decide on what to show you this month, as I've been trying out a lot of new things lately that I've been loving. I had to reel it in a little otherwise this would have been a mammoth post, so instead I've kept a few things aside for next month as I know I'll be using them all July too.
Illamsqua Blush in Nymph - I bought this a while back when Illamasqua had a 50% flash sale for their Twitter followers (who could resist?!) as I'd been eyeing it up for a while. I'd never tried anything from the brand prior to this, but after hearing good things I decided to give this and a couple of the lipsticks a whirl. I am in love with this colour and how pigmented the blush is. It's the perfect baby pink for my pale complexion, and can easily built up for a stronger colour. You do have to be careful with how much you put on the brush to start with as the colour pay off is very strong, but overall I'm really impressed with this. I've been applying this with my Real Techniques Blush Brush for a pretty summer flush to the cheeks.
Mont Blanc Legend EDP - I've already raved about this in my Perfume Collection post, so it was a no brainer that this would be in my favourites. I am head over heels for this lovely summery scent. As I mentioned in my perfume post, this almost reminds me of Britney Spears - Curios, a fragrance I loved as a teenager, but in grown up form. If you haven't tested this out yet, I would definitely recommend you to go and give it a try at your local stockist as it really is gorgeous. I know it isn't the obvious brand you would go to for a perfume, but trust me, it's lovely!
Topshop Lipstick in Boom Boom - This is my current favourite lipstick and has been my go to shade throughout June. I love the bright pink shade, reminiscent of something Barbie would be proud to wear, and the perfect complimenting product to my Illamasqua blush. It's a lovely girly shade and I've been wearing it with practically everything. It does look a little scary in the bullet but it's actually very wearable and moisturising.
Palmer's Cocoa Butter Natural Bronze Body Lotion - Being very fair skinned, I tend to steer clear from proper fake tans and go for the gradual moisturising versions instead to build up a more natural colour. I've been a firm fan of the Garnier Summer Body one until a friend told me to try this one out. I've used it on a few occasions and am really liking the results of this. It's a bit stronger in colour than the Garnier one I know and love, and I feel as though it develops a lot quicker, meaning less applications required to get to the colour I like. The only problem is that it can go a little orangey if I use it too often, but on someone with darker skin than me it would be fine. I've been using this on my legs lately whilst the sun has been out, and only need one application to get myself to what I think is a normal colour for me (ie not white), then after a couple of days I scrub it off and apply again. I think I prefer Garnier over all, but this has been treating me well this month as a great alternative that doesn't smell too strong and is super moisturising.
The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser - A while back you may remember I attended a Body Shop Event where I went a little crazy and bought a lot (some of which you will spot in this post!). One of my favourite things I picked up whilst there was this Tea Tree Pore Minimiser, which is basically a make up primer that helps to minimise the appearance of pores on the skin. I suffer from quite large pores on my nose and chin, so this is great for me, and I love the refreshing scent. I use this after cleansing in the mornings before applying my BB Cream, as it helps it last on the skin and I feel as though it makes my make up easier to blend. I'm really keen to try out more of the Tea Tree skincare range, so let me know if you have any recommendations!
The Body Shop Almond Nail and Cuticle Pen - Another Body Shop buy! I bought this as I suffer from very flaky nails, and I was advised that almond oil is a great nail strengthener. Although my nails are pretty strong, the tips tend to wear very thin and flake off in layers, which makes nail polish chip really easily, so I wanted to try this out and see if it helped. It seems to be doing the trick as my nails are feeling a lot stronger at the tips and don't seem to be flaking as much now. I really like the idea of this tool. You apply the oil by twisting the tube and painting it on the nail with the brush at the end, then ou massage it into your nail and cuticles, and use the nifty rubber cuticle pusher on the cap to gently push back the cuticle skin. Very handy to have in your handbag and a lovely treat for nails!
Korres Mango Shower Gel + Korres Vanilla Cinnamon Shower Gel - I've always admired Korres from afar as I always thought it was a little pricey, so imagine my surprise when I came home from work to find that Dan had spoilt me rotten and treated me to not one, but two of their shower gels (and a lip butter - I'm getting to that!). He bought me the Mango and the Vanilla Cinnamon scents, and oh my goodness these smell incredible. The Mango one is really refreshing and fruity, the perfect morning pick me up, and the Vanilla Cinnamon is a bit more luxurious. This one is quite a sweet and comforting, and I reach for this one in the bath in the evening. I'd actually prefer this scent in Bubble Bath form as I think it would be more suited to that (they may already do one?!) but I still really like it and have loved using them both over the past couple of weeks.
The Body Shop Banana Conditioner - Okay so this is pretty much my absolute favourite product to use at the moment, and if you have used this before I think you'll agree with me when I say this. Holy cow this is the most amazing conditioner! The only way I can describe this smell, is that it is EXACTLY like those yummy foamy banana sweets that you had when you were a kid. Not only does this smell INCREDIBLE but this is one of the nicest conditioners I have used. It leaves my hair silky smooth and I love to leave it in for a good few minutes as a deep conditioner. I am yet to try the shampoo of this as they were all out of stock when I last went in, but I'm hoping to snap one up soon!
Korres Pomegranate Lip Butter - Another little treat from the boy that was massively appreciated. I'd always heard people banging on about how good the Korres lip butters are, but for me I've never really understood why people would rave over a balm. I've always been a Vaseline girl personally, but since trying this I don't think I will be turning back! I am well and truly converted to this lovely buttery soft lip balm. My lips have never been so soft and in such good condition. I also really love the colour of this as it looks really nice and natural once applied. I've never been a fan of coloured lip balms as I always felt they were too pigmented and looked a little odd, but this one is really nice and sheer, giving a lovely natural pink sheen to the lips.
Lush Daddy-O Shampoo - Last on my list of favourites for June is a lovely shampoo from Lush that I was lucky enough to be gifted in a goody bag at their Gorilla Perfume event I went to. This was specially selected for me due to my hair colour, as it is a brightening shampoo for blonde hair. Daddy-O is purple and made with Violets, so not only does in counteract the yellow tones in my hair making them brighter, it also smells lovely. It's a really unusual scent that I've never smelled before in a hair product, but it's really fresh and I'm really happy with the results from this. I don't use it every time I wash my hair as I don't think its as nourishing as other shampoos I own, but once a week I use this to give my blonde hair a brightening boost!
