JULY FAVOURITES

I really can’t seem to post these monthly favourites on time can I? I always intend on doing them on the last day of the month, but for one reason or another that never happens. Oops! Anyhow, we’re here now, and like I always say, better late than never (or so I keep telling myself). July has been an odd month for me products wise. I haven’t really been wowed by anything and with being away a fair bit with work I haven’t really had a set ‘routine’ or had chance to try many new things. I have managed to pick out a few things that I’ve enjoyed using or have found myself reaching for a lot, but there isn’t all that much I’m afraid!

Redken Real Control Shampoo: I’ve been using this shampoo on and off for a long while now, and I always like to stock up when I visit the hairdressers. I’m a huge fan of Redken Shampoos, especially this and the All Soft version in the gold bottle. This one leaves my hair silky smooth and squeaky clean, and I love the fact that a little goes a long way. It lathers up really quickly and easily, and smells gorgeous too. Bonus!

Nars Blush in Orgasm: This has been pretty much my go-to blush for the past few weeks, as the lovely little touch of shimmer highlights my cheeks beautifully, meaning no highlighter needed! I love the shade of this summery coral blush and it looks so pretty on the cheeks with a simple, dewy base. The perfect blush for summer if you would prefer to wear powder but still get a lovely glow.

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub: The nice weather throughout July (can someone please tell me where it’s gone?) meant that I dared to bare my legs on a regular basis, so exfoliating was an absolute must considering that I needed to wear tan too. This was actually my mum’s scrub but I have sort of claimed it as my own now. It’s an amazing tub of sugary goodness that works a treat at getting rid of dry skin and leaves it incredibly soft. Plus it smells good enough to eat too!

L’Oreal Infinium Hair Spray: Another product that I like to stock up on when I visit the hairdressers is this amazing hairspray. This is one they use in the salon themselves to set styles and I really like the amount of hold it gives. It’s not too heavy but gives enough hold to last throughout the day and brushes out easily. I’ve been wearing my hair up in a little messy bun quite a lot lately whilst the weather’s been warmer, so this has helped tame fly aways and strands that didn’t want to stay put!

Maybelline Colour Show Nail Polish in Clear Shine: There isn’t really too much to say about this other than it’s a really good drugstore top coat! It applies easily and has a nice wide brush making it quick and simple to use, and it dries really fast too. I’ve found that my nail polish has lasted a lot longer than usual when using this on top. I’m not really that clued up on clear polishes as I’ve never really used them all that much, but this one seems to do the job just fine.

The Body Shop Coconut Body Mist: I’m obsessed with The Body Shop’s coconut scented body butter, so when I found out they did a body mist in the same fragrance I was right on board immediately, and snapped up a bottle straight away! This has been the scent I reach for later on in the day if I want something to refresh with. I throw this in my handbag and spritz it on throughout the day for a lovely yummy scent. It reminds me of malibu and sun cream and holidays and gets me all excited about going away in September.

Batiste Original Dry Shampoo: A bit of a boring product to throw in the post, I know, but this has been a lifesaver whilst I’ve been away with work and have been too busy to do anything with my hair. A few sprays of this on the roots instantly refreshes my hair and makes me feel presentable again. Having dark roots can make my hair look greasy when it actually isn’t, so this is perfect for sorting that out. I’ve tried lots of the Batiste Dry Shampoos, and even though they all smell really nice, I think the original has to be my favourite!

Rimmel Sun Shimmer Bronzing Compact Powder in Light Shimmer: Seeing as I’ve been wearing a gradual tan on sunny days, I wanted to add a little more colour to my face too, but being super pale it can sometimes go horribly wrong. This bronzer is the perfect delicate shade for my skin and is really light. That means I can start off with a little and then build it up until i’m happy with the colour. I sweep it in the hollows of my cheeks and across my temples for a natural contour too.

L’Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution: This one is a little bit of a cheat as I’ve only been using it for the past week (so technically only in August….) but I’m so impressed with it and didn’t have much to talk about in the skincare department. My Liz Earle is my holy grail and always will be, but this is a new addition to my routine and is working wonders for my skin so far. I sweep this onto dry skin using cotton wool pads and use it to remove my make up, but what’s best is this is also a cleanser and toner too. Result! I use this before using Liz Earle’s Hot Cloth Cleanser, but if I’m feeling lazy I don’t feel so bad if I only use this on it’s own as it leaves my skin feeling super clean and refreshed. I do have really odd sensitive skin and suffer from a lot of breakouts, so it is a little early in the day to say whether this is working for me, but so far, so good!
