So if you’ve been reading my blog for the past few months you will know how much I wanted a pair of Topshop Mom Jeans, but my curvy shape didn’t seem to want to fit into their peculiar sizes. I usually wear a size 10 in Topshop jeans, however the Mom jeans looked awful on me in the 10 – too tight in all the wrong places and really unflattering. The 12 was a little on the big side which isn’t ideal in a loose fit jean, and after feeling utterly defeated I decided to give up hope and move on. That was until I spotted not one, but two pairs of original 90s jeans in the exact same style that Mom jeans had been inspired by in my size for a teeny £2.50 each! Now I know these aren’t exactly the most figure flattering of styles, but there’s something about them that I really like. Whether it’s their high waist, or slightly tapered leg I don’t know, but I am in love with them. I like to call them my ‘Rachel Green’ jeans seeing as she seems to be wearing similar in pretty much every early episode of Friends. I took a leaf out of her book and styled them with a simple vest top, keeping all the emphasis on the jeans themselves.
Vest – Topshop
Jeans – Charity Shop
Belt – Primark
Sandals – Topshop
Rings – Primark, Topshop*, River Island
I accessorised with my favourite gladiator sandals and a studded Primark belt, and threw on a selection of rings, et voila! A simple casual look perfect for a Sunday spent perusing the shops. I picked up some black crop tops from Primark that would be great worn with these jeans, and also a lovely little floral cropped kimono that looks amazing with them to dress them up a touch. I can’t believe my luck bagging two pairs of these for just £5 in total, and I’ll no doubt be practically living in them for the foreseeable future!
Do you like this style of jean? What would you wear with them?
