Ask me what my perfect Friday night would be and I’d probably tell you a delicious meal, fancy drinks and definitely dessert, so when Miller & Carter invited me to try out their recently opened Lytham St Annes restaurant last Friday, well, you know exactly what my answer was!

You may already know of Miller & Carter Steakhouse as there are more than 70 of their restaurants dotted up and down the country, but this was actually my first visit. I’m one of those girls who drools over the menu at least a week in advance to try and decide what I’m going to order, and I’m pretty glad I did as I was spoilt for choice so it could have taken a while! The steakhouse is obviously known for it’s, believe it or not, steak, and my favourite cut is fillet so that was an easy choice, but first I HAVE to talk about the delicious starters.I chose the Pulled Brisket Croquettes which were SO good – bulled brisket with bourbon, coated in panko breakcrumbs and lemon aioli dip – delicious and so tender! Dan went for the Cured Bresaola served with baby leaf salad, parmesan shavings and olives and he loved it. I tried some of the beef and it was delicious – I wouldn’t hesitate to order either of the starters again on our next visit!

Then on to the mains – before we the steaks arrived, we were given a lettuce wedge in the dressings of our choice (mine was blue cheese and stilton, and Dan went for the honey mustard and bacon) which our lovely server Paul explained was a tradition in America dating back to the fifties. The lettuce cleanses the palette before you eat your steak, and gives a refreshing flavour during what could be quite a heavy meal! Our fillet steaks were cooked to absolute perfection – mine medium and Dan’s medium rare – and served with regular or sweet potato fries, balsamic tomatoes, Miller & Carter’s signature onion bread (yum!) and topped with parsley butter, not forgetting your favourite sauce on the side. I have to say, this was definitely up there with the best steaks I’ve ever eaten. It melted in the mouth, was perfectly tender and all the flavours complimented it perfectly – I’d highly recommend the mushroom and black garlic sauce!

By this point our bellies well well and truly satisfied and in hindsight, already too full for dessert, but it would have been rude not to, right? There is ALWAYS room for dessert in my opinion, and my goodness what an amazing dessert it was! After seeing one or two of them come out of the kitchen, I knew I had to have the Miller’s Chocolate Orange – a sphere of the richest chocolate ganache with an oozy caramel centre, topped with a chocolate shard and super refreshing orange sorbet – probably the best decision I’ve ever made. My eyes were definitely bigger than my belly though so I could only do half of the chocolate globe, but its one of the most indulgent desserts I’ve tried! Dan’s chocolate brownie also looked delicious, served warm (yum) with vanilla ice cream and topped with a chocolate and pistachio shard, but lets be real here, mine was the best…We enjoyed every single bit of our meal and I won’t lie, I had to lie down when we got home afterwards as I was so full! The starters were delicious, the steaks were absolute perfection, and well, I think you get the jist about how good the desserts were!
