A PEEK INSIDE MY MAKE UP BAG

Back the old blogging days, these ‘what’s in my bag/ make up bag’ posts used to be some of my favourite to read, mainly because I loved having a nosey in some one else’s collection! I thought I’d take it back and show you inside my current daily make up routine as I’ve managed to find a great range of products that agree with my skin, last all day long and give me a natural day-to-day look. As well as the make up itself, I’ve also got a couple of tools in the mix to show you that now live in my make up bag and I couldn’t do without!

Since we’re on the subject of tools, lets start with them! When it comes to brows, there are two tools I love to use to tame them and keep them in shape, which are the Lilibeth Brow Shaperfrom Instant Beauty Fix, which is amazing for quickly getting rid of unwanted hairs without the pain of waxing or threading, and great creating a defined shape, and the Rubis tweezers* which are super precise for plucking away any pesky strays!

When it comes to applying the make up itself, I used to be all about buffing foundation and cream products in with a brush, but I’m now fully converted to the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge which leaves a lovely flawless finish and is so easy to use! I always have at least one of these in my make up bag as they’re just so versatile for so many different products.

Now on to the make up itself! So, once I’ve prepped my skin with moisturiser and primer, I start to conceal any blemishes, dark spots or redness with the Technic Colour Fix Cream Foundation Palette. This is one of my absolute favourite make up buys, and this is the fourth time I’ve repurchased it! I get this from a local drugstore for less than £4, and its SO GOOD. I use the paler colours in the palette for concealing as they’re such a great creamy consistency that has great coverage, and if I’m wearing fake tan, I’ll use the darker colours for contouring or adding to my foundation for a darker shade. I literally scrape this palette clean every time I buy it, and hit pan on pretty much every single colour, so I can’t rave about it enough.

Once I’m done concealing, I then apply my foundation, which is currently Estée Lauder Double Wear in the shade Desert Beige. I’ve been using this since the summer and I’m absolutely hooked! I love the finish and the fact that it doesn’t move at all. I don’t think I’ll be using anything else for a long time!

Once my base is all done, I then move on to blush. The Max Factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush is a fairly new addition to my make up bag as previous cream blushes I’ve owned have run out and I wanted to try something new. So far so good with this one! I just dab a little on to my cheeks and blend the colour out with my fingers to achieve a natural look. I much prefer a cream blusher to a powder one as I think it sits much nicer on my skin.

Blusher done, I then move on to my final face product which is again, another fairly new addition. I contour and highlight a little with the Seventeen Define & Conquer Contour Kit, which is a compact little duo in the perfect shades for my skintone (I use the Fair palette. I love this because the powders are matte and don’t have any shimmer in, so the result looks completely natural. I don’t bother setting my make up with any powders or sprays at this point, because I find that everything stays in place without the need for it!

Finally I move on to the eyes, starting with the brows. I’m a huge lover of products such as the Anastasia Brow Wiz, but budgets can’t always stretch to picking up one of those bad boys every few months, but I’ve found a brilliant dupe in the Maybelline Brow Satin. I use the medium brown pencil and fill in my brows lightly to define the shape and make them look more even, then I use the powder coated sponge on the other end to set them and fill in any gaps. I’d highly recommend giving this product a whirl if you like these kind of brow pencils!

Then its eyelashes, and for these I’m currently using the Temple Spa ‘A Stroke of Genius’ Mascara*, which has conditioning lashcare ingredients to make them look full yet natural with no clumping. I absolutely love this stuff!

Obviously I’d finish up here with a lip product, but I have far too many in my make up bag to mention!

Phew – that seems a lot of stuff when you write it down! Actually though, I think this is the most streamlined make up routine I’ve ever had, and the fact that I’ve got the full face down to just ten minutes in the mornings is a winner for me!

Let me know which items make up your routine!
