WINTER TO SPRING STYLING

03-02-18

If there’s a time of year I hate when it comes to fashion, its right now. Those weird in-between days as we transition from the chilly months of winter in to the (hopefully) warmer climes of Spring can be the most difficult to dress for, and I’ve had too many morning meltdowns trying to decide what to wear for work than I care to mention so far this year alone!

I thought I’d chat about some of my favourite transitional pieces that will be my go-to wardrobe heroes over the next couple of months, and some clever styling tips to have you ready for whatever the weather may be (I mean, we’re forecast sun, rain, snow and wind in the next 5 days so best to be prepared!).

Statement knitwear is one of my failsafe styles to go for when I’m struggling with what to wear, especially when the weather is a little unpredictable! This gorgeous knit from H&M is my current favourite, whilst its light enough to wear under a jacket, its thick enough to wear alone too when its a little warmer. I’m also planning on styling this over a fine high neck T shirt, which is another of my favourite transitional pieces! You can pick one up for next to nothing, and they are so great to layer under shirts, jumpers and blazers for extra warmth, and make those more summery piece a little more practical in the cold.

Next on my list HAS to be denim. I’m definitely a girl who lives in her jeans and have way too many pairs to count, but they’re such a staple in my wardrobe that can be styled up whatever the weather. My current favourite styles are seventies inspired flares like the Topshop Jamie flares here, and high waisted straight leg fits. I’m also a big fan of a cropped leg, which works so well with ankle boots at this time of year, or trainers and sandals when spring and summer roll around.

Speaking of boots, I can’t get enough of them and have pretty much worn them all year round since we had a more or less non-existent Summer! As I said, they work really well with jeans, but I also love teaming them with midi dresses for when I want more of a dressier look or its not so cold that my legs are covered in goosebumps! You can’t see much of them in these photos but I’m wearing the Topshop Brooke ankle boots which are perfect for jeans, dresses and everything in between.

Some other wardrobe saviours of mine in the transitional period include blazers; perfect for layering over T shirts, blouses and even knitwear, and then it has to be the trusty mini dress! I love dresses in darker colours with a cute floral print, as they work so well with tights and boots, but just as good when its warm enough to brave bare legs. Winner!

Despite it being freezing outside and the daily outfit struggle, I’ve got my outfit post mojo back and I’m so excited for a few days off work this week which we’re spending in Manchester, as it means I have time to shoot lots of fashion content! Stay tuned for lots more outfits and more transitional pieces to take you through to spring, when it eventually arrives!

Hope you are all having the BEST weekend.
