Today’s post is pretty special, and that’s because it contains one of my all time favourite things. Cheese. And lots of it! A few weeks back we visited the Lime Bar Lounge in Penwortham for what’s probably the most exciting meal you could ever offer me. Not Afternoon Tea, but Afternoon Cheese! Yep, that’s right. Three tiers of cheesy goodness to devour, from savoury snacks to sweet goodies, all washed down with a glass of gin!
Lime Bar is a fairly new addition to Preston’s drinking and dining scene, and I’d heard so many good things before our visit. Its the perfect place to go on a lazy weekend morning for a tasty breakfast, a midweek evening for tapas, a night with the girls for some vino or a delicious Sunday Afternoon Tea!
The Cheese Indulge Afternoon Tea has only recently been added to the menu, and is one of the only of its kind in the area. Obviously, the promise of a cheese feast was more than enough to get me down to try it out, and I wasn’t disappointed! Our cake stands arrived (which I need by the way – rose gold, hello!) and I squealed a little with delight when I saw two baked Camembert on the top tier. Dan isn’t a fan, so that meant I had two to demolish with some tasty little crackers.
The second tier was probably my favourite, filled with cheese scones, a trio of cheeses on sticks with a lovely chutney, and an array of little miniature cheese cakes topped with fresh berries. The final tier took on more of a traditional spin with a selection of finger sandwiches, including brie and bacon, cheese savoury filling and a couple more. Needless to say, the diet was well and truly off this day!
Everything was absolutely delicious and even though there was a lot of cheese and carbs going on here, it didn’t leave my stomach feeling bloated or heavy. I was actually eyeing up some of their amazing cakes afterwards but decided to lay off the food and stick to the gin (which they have a great selection of, by the way!)
I’ll definitely be visiting the Lime Bar Lounge again soon as I’m really keen to try out the tapas menu on a weeknight. We visited on a Saturday and the atmosphere was great. If you’re in the Preston area and looking to visit I’d recommend booking in advance as its proving to be an extremely popular place! Thank you Lime Bar for the lovely treat!
