STEPPING OUT OF MY DENIM COMFORT ZONE

As someone who practically lives in jeans, shopping for anything else can be pretty difficult. I wear my ever faithful denim for pretty much any occasion, whether work or play, but now that Spring is looking like it might actually be happening, I’ve been more drawn to trousers and lighter fabrics over jeans. Now, I have enough difficulty trying to find denim that fits my frame (short legs, long body, small waist, wide hips = jeans nightmare), so you can imagine the issues I have with trousers!

I struck gold though when I found these checked ankle length trousers in the sale at H&M for around £10, as they fit like an absolute dream. Slightly cropped with a subtle kick flare, fitted in the right places, high on the waist and relaxed on the leg. I literally couldn’t believe how well they fit when I first tried them on, and I knew they’d work well in a casual outfit as well as the smart looks they’re intended for.

Yellow and grey is one of my favourite colour combinations (hello, wedding colour scheme!) so I knew exactly what I wanted to style them with to show them off to you! I picked up yet another slogan tee from H&M which I absolutely LOVE. I’ve seen this on a few people recently and just had to have it. It also goes perfectly with this oversized Mango cardigan which is a dreamy shade of yellow.

I absolutely love how this outfit turned out, and these trousers have definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone of boyfriend jeans. They work so well with bold colours and the check is still nice and subtle, plus, they’re probably the comfiest things I own!

I’ve seen so many similar styles on the high street lately and I can see trousers like these fast becoming a firm favourite in my wardrobe, having spotted some others I love in lots of my favourite stores such as Topshop, River Island and All Saints, and there’s plenty of the latest All Saints discount codes available for a cheeky saving!

I really want to add more styles like this in to my wardrobe, especially wide leg cropped styles for summer and more tailored versions for work. Let me know if you’ve spotted any must-haves lately!
