WINTER ACCESSORISING

One thing that I LOVE about Winter styling is the fun you can have with accessories! I tend to steer away from them in the warmer months as I hate having a fussy outfit in the heat, so the most you would probably see me venture out with is a bag, but when its time to wrap up warm and get layering, there’s so much more you can add to an outfit!

This year I feel like I’ve ‘found’ my Winter style pretty early on and know what I feel comfortable in – give me a bright chunky knit with skinny jeans and snake print ankle boots, or a fine knit sloan jumper with a blazer or oversized cardigan tucked in to straight leg jeans and Bob’s your uncle! I seem to have got my Winter uniform down, but always feel like my outfits need a little something extra before I head out of the house, so these are the pieces that I’ve been reaching for so far!

First up – bags. You’ll start to notice pretty quickly here that with most things, there’s a theme. Colour! I love to add bright splashes of colour to more or less every single outfit, so its no surprise that some of the bags I’ve been loving the most lately are of the bolder style. Some absolute favourites of mine right now include a gorgeous mustard velvet boxy handbag complete with embellishment, a dreamy floral faux-tapestry bag, and a snake print number, all of which add a little something extra to every look I wear them with. Don’t get me wrong, I love a simple black cross body bag as much as the next person, but I seem to be wearing my brights that little bit more right now!

Then there’s the hats! Last year I dipped my toes in the winter hat trends and ended up wearing them religiously after a few weeks. Over the past year I’ve built up my collection and have plenty to see me through the season. My favourite style to wear right now is the beret as its so easier to throw on and it makes every look appear more thought out and finished off! Once again, you’ll find a rainbow of colours in my hat collection, as I feel they work so much better with the fair complexion that a plain black one would. I’ll no doubt be sporting these most days throughout winter, and I wouldn’t be surprised if a few more sneak their way in to my collection sometime soon!

Moving nicely on to scarves, and surprise, surprise – more colour! I’ve added a couple of new scarves to my wardrobe this year, and they’ve got the same thing in common – they’re huge, and they’re bright! I’ve chosen the colours carefully though to make sure they actually go well with the coats I have, and the one pictured here is the absolute perfect fit with my favourite pink coat! I love how well they go together.

Another reason I love to wear a bold scarf is because its a quick and easy way to brighten up a simple coat. I have some beautiful camel and grey coats that look stunning, but I always feel like they need something else to make them stand out, which is where these come in so handy. Plus they’re obviously a must for keeping warm on chilly days! There are so many great ones on the high street this year, and I love how they’re all bright and completely different to the classic black or checked versions I’ve turned to in the past. Mine is from ASOS, but I’ve also seen some gorgeous ones at Accessorize, Zara and H&M in the past few weeks!

Finally, on to something that isn’t quite so loud, is my jewellery collection! This season I’ve got really in to layering necklaces. I love mixing short dainty chains with longer pendants in various thicknesses, and wearing them over a simple t shirt or fine knit to add a subtle bit of interest. There’s just something that I really like about gold necklaces paired with a plain white tee! My favourite new addition to my jewellery collection has to be the T Bar necklace from the Estée Lalonde range for Daisy jewellery. The pieces from the collection would make the most perfect Christmas gifts! They come beautifully boxed and presented in a lovely gift bag, and I’m sure any girl would be thrilled to receive something from the super popular range this Christmas. I absolutely love mine and have worn it so many times already!

Also in my necklace collection are affordable pieces from the likes of Primark, ASOS and H&M that are perfect for creating a layered look for less. I do have to stop myself from wearing too many of them at once, but this is a look that I’m sure I’ll be sporting for months to come!

I’d love to know what your go-to accessories for the winter season are. Are you loving layering your necklaces like me, or do you prefer a paired back look? If you’ve seen any pieces that you think I need to be adding to my collection then hit me up with the links!!
