Ahh, the boiler suit. Perfect for when you’re meeting your friends at 6pm but need to fix the central heating at 2pm! Jokes aside, this is a trend I’ve been wanting to try for a while. I’ve seen them doing the rounds on Instagram and have loved seeing how people have been styling the boiler suit up. I had my eye on a few from Topshop and Monki, but settled on this gorgeous Boohoo number! I spotted it during one of their discount events and snapped it up for a mere £22. It’s a gorgeous neutral corduroy fabric which makes it the perfect Winter-to-Spring transitional piece.
I wore the boiler suit at the weekend when, quite frankly, it was absolutely baltic, so layering was an absolute must! I styled it over a roll neck for extra warmth, and threw on some trainers to keep it nice and casual. This is a pretty neutral look for me – you wouldn’t normally find me in something with so little colour! I absolutely loved wearing it though, and it looked so good with my teddy coat over the top when I ventured out of the house! I must admit, I tried another version before settling on this one, but the fit was just completely wrong on me. This version is perfect on my frame though and fits well in all the right places. It even has the perfect cropped length for my short legs, which usually never happens!

When it came to the accessories for styling the boiler suit, I kept fairly simple – stacking rings aplenty, my watch, and that’s pretty much it! I was very kindly sent a stunning watch from Scandinavian brand Nordgreen recently. I picked out the rose gold ‘Native’ face with the nylon band in navy, and I love it. It’s a really great paired back design – simple yet stylish, and works well with both casual and formal looks. Nordgreen work with Jakob Wagner, one of Scandinavia’s most heavily awarded designers, which explains the stunning minimalist design. I’m usually an Apple Watch wearer but find mine doesn’t really lend itself well to smarter looks. This is a great alternative for evenings as it has a much more timeless look and feel!
If you’re struggling for a Valentine’s gift idea, I’d definitely recommend a Nordgreen watch! There’s a range of face designs and bands to suit any style, and it would make a lovely gift! They’re a green sustainable brand too, hence the ‘green’ in the brand name. (‘Nord’ represents the Nordic identity of the brand). Nordgreen work with sustainable manufacturers, and the watches are boxed in recyclable packaging. There’s also a great ‘Giving Back Program’ at Nordgreen. Once you’ve purchased your chosen watch, you can select one of three great causes to have a percentage of the purchase donated to!
I’m honestly so impressed with mine, and have had so many lovely compliments. I’m already eyeing up a couple of the straps to customise mine! I think the nylon one lends itself well to this look though with its contemporary feel, and the navy works well with the neutral tones.
This has got to be one of my favourite outfits to date! I’m so pleasantly surprised with how easy the boiler suit is to wear. I’m planning on wearing this a lot more when the weather starts to warm up, for sure! I know it will look amazing with some barely-there sandals, clutch bag and a red lip for a girls night out. Or with heeled boots and a tailored coat for a smart-casual ensemble. It will be so cute in Spring too, layered over a pastel coloured tee with some simple plimsoles. So many possibilities!
I’m so glad I picked this piece up (and for such a steal too!). It’s one of those things that can be a little daunting to style at first, but they’re so versatile. I know this is going to be something that gets worn a LOT, so be prepared for boiler suit spam! I’d love to see how you’ve all been styling the boiler suit trend too, so leave your links in the comments!
